Major Fire Engulfs Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar, Pune; 6 Fire Tenders Rushed to the Scene
A significant fire broke out at Phoenix Mall in Pune’s Viman Nagar on Friday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Pune Fire Department. Firefighters were alerted around 3:25 pm and arrived promptly on the scene. To tackle the blaze, six fire tenders were deployed.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined, according to officials from the Pune Fire Department. The fire originated in a restaurant on the mall’s third floor, which had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as reported by News18 citing a Pune Fire Department official.
Phoenix Mall is a popular shopping and entertainment destination in the area, boasting a range of facilities such as a courtyard, hypermarket, department stores, a bookstore, a children’s play zone, electronics stores, and PVR Cinemas, according to its website.
In a separate incident in Thane district, Maharashtra, a fire broke out at a factory manufacturing plastic products. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The fire occurred around 3 pm in Kalam village on the Mumbai-Agra road in Shahapur taluka. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the authorities. Firefighting operations are ongoing, with water tankers being utilized to combat the blaze.
