Purdue Spring Commencement Schedule & Student Responders Announced
Purdue University is gearing up for its spring 2024 commencement ceremonies, set to take place at Elliott Hall of Music from May 10-12. This year’s commencement will mark a significant milestone for the Class of 2024, with a total of eight ceremonies planned to accommodate the diverse graduating student body.
The university is preparing to celebrate the achievements of 8,284 undergraduates, 2,323 graduate students, 210 students from professional programs, and 244 students from Purdue Polytechnic’s statewide programs.
The commencement ceremonies will feature Purdue President Mung Chiang as the keynote speaker for all eight events. Additionally, each ceremony will include a student responder who will share reflections on their academic journey and offer words of inspiration to their fellow graduates.
To ensure a smooth and memorable experience for all attendees, Purdue has organized the commencement ceremonies into different divisions, each corresponding to specific colleges or schools within the university. These divisions are scheduled as follows:
- Division I: Friday, May 10, 9:30 a.m., College of Health and Human Sciences
- Division II: Friday, May 10, 2:30 p.m., College of Education and Purdue Polytechnic Institute
- Division III: Friday, May 10, 7 p.m., College of Science
- Division IV: Saturday, May 11, 9:30 a.m., College of Engineering
- Division V: Saturday, May 11, 2:30 p.m., College of Agriculture and College of Engineering
- Division VI: Saturday, May 11, 7 p.m., College of Engineering
- Division VII: Sunday, May 12, 9:30 a.m., Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business and College of Veterinary Medicine
- Division VIII: Sunday, May 12, 2:30 p.m., College of Pharmacy and College of Liberal Arts
For the convenience of attendees, the doors to Elliott Hall of Music will open 90 minutes before each ceremony, and tickets will be required for entry. Graduates will have the opportunity to request up to four tickets for their guests. Attendees are reminded that only clear bags or small clutch bags will be permitted inside the venue, and all bags will be subject to inspection.
In addition to celebrating the accomplishments of its graduating students, Purdue will also confer honorary doctorates upon two distinguished individuals during the commencement ceremonies. Carolyn Woo, former CEO of Catholic Relief Services, will receive an honorary doctorate of management, and Jennifer Rumsey, chair and CEO of Cummins Inc., will receive an honorary doctorate of engineering.
